Sunscreen washes off. A sun shirt doesn’t.
Floating face-down over a reef is the fastest way to burn your back and shoulders, and most sunscreen is gone within twenty minutes in the water. A UPF 50+ snorkeling shirt keeps blocking about 98% of UV the whole time, protects the reef from what would have washed off you, and dries on the ride back. Ours are a lightweight polyester performance knit with a loose cut that moves easily in the water and does not cling when wet.
Long sleeve, hoodie or short sleeve
The long sleeve is the snorkeling standard: arms covered, no chafe from a vest. A sun hoodie covers the neck on the boat between drops. Short sleeves work for quick swims and the sandbar. All three take the same designs.
